The Backyard Sleep Capsule delivers hotel-grade accommodation in a 12–15㎡ modular cell. The layout separates three functions: sleeping (queen platform with integrated storage), bathing (2.5㎡ wet room with rainfall shower and wall-hung toilet), and dressing (wardrobe cabinet with overhead shelving).
The queen bed features a gas-lift mechanism revealing 0.8 cubic meters of linen and luggage storage. Bedside niches with wireless charging and reading lights eliminate nightstand footprint. The wet room uses a single-slope floor with linear drain, full-surround waterproofing, and a humidity-sensing exhaust fan that prevents mold in humid climates.
Climate independence is absolute: a whisper-quiet mini-split (23dB) maintains sleeping temperature (18–20°C) regardless of household thermostat settings. Blackout roller shades and acoustic wall construction (STC 45) shield against early light and neighbor noise—critical for guest satisfaction.
The entry faces away from the main house with a covered porch, creating psychological autonomy for occupants. A small kitchenette module is optional: undercounter fridge, microwave, and sink for extended-stay guests or granny-flat use.
Utility connections are standardized: 40A electrical, 3/4″ water, and 3″ sewer (or macerating pump for uphill drainage). The unit sits on helical anchors or concrete piers—no excavation in most jurisdictions. Relocation takes two hours.
